Throughout the week, there will be eight events in Union County. Events include presentations at local middle schools and high schools, tours of manufacturing facilities and an invitation-only celebration breakfast event.

The largest event of the week is a Manufacturing Expo on Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. at South Piedmont Community College. The Expo will give Union County residents an opportunity to learn about manufacturing companies in the area. Specifically, the products the companies produce and the technology they use to make those products.

It is also a networking opportunity for those interested in working in manufacturing.

“Make It in Union County is all about manufacturing. Our mission is to elevate local awareness of manufacturing in Union County and provide a forum for manufacturers to network and discuss the issues and challenges relevant to today’s manufacturing environment,” Fred Edwards, Make It in Union County Co-Chair and President/COO of Goulston Technologies, Inc., wrote in a press release. “One of our goals is for every student, parent and educator to know that modern manufacturing is not ‘just settling for a job,’ it is a career choice … and one that pays.”
